Are drone deliveries safe?

Safety is built into how we design and operate. The aircraft is designed, manufactured and assessed against the UK CAA's SORA framework, which is grounded in high aviation safety standards. Public delivery only begins once CAA authorisation is in place.

How loud are the drones?

Low noise is an absolute priority. It is a lightweight electric quadcopter, so there is no combustion engine, only propeller sound for the short time it is nearby. We design for unobtrusive delivery and cruise for customers and neighbours, and we expect each generation to get quieter still.

Do the drones record video?

Accepted Answer

The aircraft carries a camera for safety only, not surveillance. At cruise it helps detect people so the aircraft can avoid flying directly over them. During delivery it monitors the zone beneath so the area stays clear of people, pets and other moving objects. Footage is used by onboard systems and live-streamed to our pilot. It is never saved or stored, onboard or anywhere else, for future use.

What can you deliver?

Small, everyday packages of up to 2 kg, sized for local last-mile delivery. Our first service focus is food, with other suitable small items later, always within payload and operational limits.

How does the drone drop off my order?

Accepted Answer

It does not land at the home and nothing is dropped. The aircraft holds a stable hover at about 10 m and gently lowers your order to the ground on a winch, then releases it and reels the line back up. You collect the package from a clear, agreed spot such as a garden.

When and in what conditions do the drones fly?

We design for daylight operations and safe weather only. If conditions are not suitable, we do not fly and a delivery waits until it is safe. Exact operating hours and weather limits are set under our procedures and CAA authorisation.

Is drone delivery better for the environment?

Our aircraft is fully electric, with no exhaust emissions in flight. We are building short local flights for small packages as a cleaner alternative to many road trips for the same kind of delivery.

Where is Swift Drone Delivery available?

Accepted Answer

Swift Aero is not yet operating a delivery service for consumers. We are preparing a first, small local trial of real goods to real customers in the UK, only once we have CAA authorisation. We will share more on where and when when we can offer a service.
