Remote Pilot in Command
Surrey, UK · 4-month fixed-term · £36,000/year pro rata + share options on conversion
Swift Aero is hiring a Remote Pilot in Command to fly live delivery missions on our upcoming 90-day BVLOS drone delivery trial. You'll hold overall command responsibility for each flight, operating our highly automated aircraft beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) under our internal procedures and CAA Operational Authorisation.
This is a rare chance to log real pilot-in-command BVLOS hours on one of the UK's first drone delivery trials. It's hands-on outdoor work at a fixed trial site. Schedules flex with weather and daylight, so we need someone comfortable with a variable, safety-led routine.
What you'll do
- Act as pilot in command on trial delivery flights: planning, briefing, weather assessment and airspace monitoring
- Conduct pre-flight inspections and operate our aircraft within the limits defined in the Aircraft Flight Manual
- Manage contingencies and emergencies in line with our internal procedures
- Complete technical logbook entries after each flight and keep your training and currency records current
- Support safety, audit and compliance activity as needed
What you must have
- GVC (General VLOS Certificate) or Level 1 Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC-L1)
- Recent, demonstrable UA flying, including at least 5 hours logged VLOS
- Experience working to formal risk assessments and documented operating procedures
- The right to work in the UK
In-house type training to uplift your existing qualifications to our internal BVLOS operating standard is provided and completed before any commercial BVLOS operations.
What we'd like you to have
- Prior BVLOS experience
- A UK Private Pilot's Licence, or other similar aviation experience
- Working fluency with ArduPilot, or a strong track record on a comparable open flight-control stack
- Experience building, assembling or maintaining UAS
The offer
- Contract: 4-month fixed-term, with a clear intention to move to a permanent role as the operation scales. The 4-month term includes pre-trial training and preparation ahead of the 90-day flight trial.
- Salary: £36,000/year, pro rata (≈ £3,000/month for the 4-month term)
- Equity: share options on conversion to a permanent role
- Start Date: August 2026
